Abstract

Fenomena tren fast fashion merupakan salah satu penyumbang kerusakan lingkungan global. Salah satu solusi untuk meminimalisir tren fast fashion terus terjadi ialah dengan cara mengembangkan pakaian upcycle. Namun, minat dan pengetahuan masyarakat masih minim terhadap pakaian upcycle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kesadaran lingkungan terhadap minat beli pakaian upcycle pada generasi z di Jakarta Timur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif asosiatif dengan melibatkan 100 responden yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh kesadaran lingkungan terhadap minat beli pakaian upcycle generasi z di Jakarta Timur yang signifikan dengan P-value = 0,000 < 0,05. Di samping itu, ditemukan bahwa 84,7% minat beli pakaian upcycle dapat dijelaskan melalui kesadaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kesadaran lingkungan individu, maka semakin tinggi pula minat beli individu tersebut pada pakaian upcycle. Begitupun sebaliknya, semakin rendah tingkat kesadaran individu, maka semakin rendah pula minat beli individu tersebut pada pakaian upcycle. Pelaku usaha dan pemerintah diharapkan dapat melakukan strategi yang tepat mengenai pakaian yang berkelanjutan atau pakaian upcycle, dengan cara penguatan edukasi lingkungan secara berkelanjutan melalui konten yang menarik dan interaktif ataupun gencar mengadakan event yang bertemakan ramah lingkungan. One solution to minimize this trend is the development of upcycled clothing. However, public interest and knowledge regarding upcycled apparel remain limited. This study aims to determine the influence of environmental awareness on the purchase intention of upcycled clothing among generation z in East Jakarta. The research method employed is quantitative associative, involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling, with data collected via questionnaires. The results indicate a significant influence of environmental awareness on the purchase intention of upcycled clothing among generation z in East Jakarta, with a P-value = 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, it was found that 84.7% of the purchase intention for upcycled clothing can be explained by environmental awareness. This research demonstrates that a higher level of environmental awareness in an individual leads to a higher purchase intention for upcycled clothing. Conversely, a lower level of environmental awareness results in lower purchase intention. Business actors and the government are expected to implement appropriate strategies regarding sustainable or upcycled clothing by strengthening continuous environmental education through engaging and interactive content, as well as actively organizing eco-themed events.
