Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis deskripsi melalui pendekatan saintifik dengan metode problem based learning pada siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Selajambe Kabupaten Kuningan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Pengumpulan data dilakukankan menggunakan instrumen tes menulis deskripsi, lembar pemantau tindakan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan keterampilan menulis deskripsi pada siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Selajambe Kabupaten Kuningan melalui pendekatan saintifik dengan metode problem based learning. Peningkatan pada siklus I sebesar 69,6 dengan persentase ketuntasan belajar 60% meningkat 24%, dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 75,6 dengan persentase ketuntasan mencapai 88% meningkat sebesar 28%, hal ini telah melebihi kriteria ketuntasan yang di harapkan yaitu 75%. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi dikarenakan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran guru telah menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran saintifik dengan metode problem based learning. Dari hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan terhadap kinerja guru pada siklus I mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 73% ,pada siklus II pengamatan kinerja guru dalam menerapkan metode problem based learning memperoleh nilai rata-rata 93%. Pengamatan pada aktivitas siswa pada siklus I mendapatkan mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 66%, dan pada siklus II pengamatan aktivitas siswa meningkat menjadi 86%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran melalui pendekatan saintifik dengan metode problem based learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis deskripsi pada siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Selajambe Kabupaten Kuningan. Peningkatan keterampilan menulis deskripsi pada siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Selajambe terjadi pada aspek judul, isi/ gagasan, kalimat efektif, diksi,serta penggunaan ejaan dan tanda baca. Semua itu tidak terlepas dari kemampuan pedagogik guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran baik itu dalam penerapan metode, penggunaan media pembelajaran dan juga dalam penyampaian pembelajaran sehingga dapat dengan mudah dipahami oleh siswa. Kata kunci : keterampilan menulis, pendekatan saintifik, metode problem based learning ************* The aim of the research was to improve descriptive writing skills through a scientific approach using problem-based learning at fourth students’ grade of SDN 3 Selajambe Kunigan Regency. This research is a class action research using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model which is conducted in two cycles The research was a classroom action research using Kemmis and Mc. Taggart Design. This study was conducted in two cycles. Data collection is done through descriptive writing tests, observation sheets and documentation.The results showed an increase in descriptive writing skills of fourth grade students’ of SDN 3 Selajambe Kuningan Regency through a scientific approach using problem-based learning methods. The increase in cycle I amounted to 69.6 with the percentage of mastery learning 60% increased by 24%, and in the second cycle increased to 75.6 with the percentage of completeness reaching 88% increased by 28%, this has exceeded the expected completeness criteria of 75% .This increase occurred because in the implementation of teacher learning had used a scientific learning approach with a problem-based learning method. From the results of observations made on teacher performance in cycle I got an average value of 73%, in cycle II observations of teacher performance in applying the problem-based learning method obtained an average score of 93%. Observations on student activity in the first cycle got an average value of 66%, and in the second cycle the observation of student activity increased to 86%. The results of this study indicate that learning through a scientific approach with problem-based learning methods can improve the skills of writing descriptions in grade IV SDN 3 Selajambe, Kuningan Regency. The improvement of descriptive writing skills in grade IV SDN 3 Selajambe occurred in the aspects of title, content / ideas, effective sentences, diction, and use of spelling and punctuation. All of that is inseparable from the pedagogical ability of the teacher in managing learning both in the application of methods, the use of learning media and also in the delivery of learning so that it can be easily understood by students.
