Abstract

Rendahnya minat mahasiswa program studi kependidikan untuk menjadi guru berpotensi mempengaruhi kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia. Minat yang didefinisikan sebagai rasa ketertarikan tanpa adanya paksaan terhadap suatu aktivitas, ditentukan oleh beberapa faktor. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dua faktor yang dapat berperan terhadap minat menjadi guru yaitu pengalaman Praktik Keterampilan Mengajar (PKM) dan pemahaman mahasiswa Pendidikan Tata Boga terkait profesi guru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pengalaman praktik keterampilan mengajar dan pemahaman tentang profesi guru terhadap minat mahasiswa untuk menjadi guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji persyaratan analisis, uji korelasional, uji regresi linear dan uji hipotesis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Pengalaman PKM memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan terhadap minat menjadi guru dengan nilai korelasi rhitung>rtabel (0.62>0.21) dan nilai thitung>ttabel (7.15>1.98); 2) Terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara pemahaman tentang profesi guru dan minat menjadi guru dengan hasil thitung>ttabel (3.92>1.98), serta nilai korelasi rhitung>rtabel (0.39>0.21); 3) Secara simultan, pengalaman PKM dan pemahaman tentang profesi guru memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan terhadap minat menjadi guru yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai korelasi rhitung>rtabel (0.62>0.21), serta nilai signifikansi sebesar (0.001<0.05) dan nilai thitung>ttabel (25.44>3.11). Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman PKM dan pemahaman tentang profesi guru berperan penting dalam meningkatkan minat mahasiswa untuk menjadi guru. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar lembaga pendidikan mengoptimalkan pelaksanaan PKM serta memperkuat pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan pemahaman terkait profesi guru guna menumbuhkan minat mahasiswa untuk berkarir sebagai tenaga pendidik.***** The low interest of students in teacher education programs to become teachers has the potential to affect the quality of education in Indonesia. Interest, defined as a feeling of attraction toward an activity without any coercion, is determined by several factors. This study focuses on two factors that may influence the interest in becoming a teacher, namely Teaching Practice Experience (PKM) and student’s understanding of the teaching profession in the Culinary Education. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between teaching practice experience and undersanding of the teaching profession with student’s interest in becoming teachers. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The data analysis techniques applied include prerequisite test, correlation tests, linear regression test and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that: 1) Teaching Practice Experience (PKM) has a positive and significant relationship with the interest becoming a teacher, as shown by the correlation value of rcount>rtable (0.62>0.21), a significant level of (0.001<0.05) and tcount>ttable (7.20>1.99); 2) Understanding of the teaching profession also has a positive and significant relationship with interest in becoming a teacher, with tcount>ttable (3.95>1.99), a significant value of (0.001<0.05) and rcount>rtable (0.40>0.21); 3) PKM experience and understanding of the teaching profession together have a positive and significant relationship with interest in becoming a teacher, as indicated by rcount>rtable (0.62>0.21), a significant value of (0.001<0.05) and fcount>ftable (25.76>3.11). In conclusion, teaching skills practice experience and understanding of the teaching profession play an important role in increasing student’s interest in becoming teacher. Therefore, it is recommended that educational institutions improve the implementation of PKM and strengthen learning related to the teaching profession to encourage student’s to pursue a career as teacher.
