Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kecemasan yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” dan mekanisme pertahanan diri yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi rasa cemas tersebut berdasarkan teori Sigmund Freud. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis isi, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode membaca dan mencatat. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti memperoleh data primer langsung dari sumber data berupa kata, kalimat, dialog, dan paragraf yang berkaitan dengan kecemasan tokoh utama dalam novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” dan mekanisme pertahanan diri untuk mengatasi rasa cemas tersebut. Sedangkan untuk data sekunder, data yang diperlukan untuk menunjang penelitian berasal dari buku, majalah, ataupun penelitian ilmiah lain yang berkaitan dengan sastra, psikoanalisis, dan analisis sastra. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan tokoh utama dalam novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” mengalami berbagai kecemasan yang terdiri dari kecemasan realitas, kecemasan neurotik, dan kecemasan moral. Kecemasan tersebut terjadi secara terpisah maupun terhimpun hingga tiga kecemasan sekaligus dalam satu peristiwa. Tokoh utama merespon kecemasan dengan berbagai mekanisme pertahanan diri dari satu hingga empat mekanisme sekaligus. Tokoh utama menggunakan mekanisme pertahanan repression, displacement, denial, rationalization, reaction formation, projection, dan isolation. ***** The purpose of this study is to identify the anxiety experienced by the main character in the novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” and the defense mechanisms used to overcome that anxiety based on Sigmund Freud’s theory. The method used in this research is content analysis, and the data collection techniques employed are reading and note-taking. In analyzing the data, the researcher obtained primary data directly from the data sources in the form of words, sentences, dialogues, and paragraphs related to the main character’s anxiety in the novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” and the defense mechanisms employed to cope with that anxiety. Meanwhile, for secondary data, the supporting data needed for the research were derived from books, magazines, or other scientific studies related to literature, psychoanalysis, and literary analysis. The results of data analysis show that the main character in the novel “Al-Lişu wa Al-Kilāb” experiences various anxieties consisting of reality anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. These anxieties occur separately or collectively, with up to three anxieties occurring simultaneously in a single event. The main character responds to anxiety with various defense mechanisms, ranging from one to four mechanisms at a time. The main character uses the defense mechanisms of repression, displacement, denial, rationalization, reaction formation, projection, and isolation.
