Abstract

***** Rising carbon emissions and air pollution from the transportation sector have become major environmental challenges in Indonesia. Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered a promising solution; however, public purchase intention, particularly among Generation Y in Jakarta, remains relatively low. Therefore, this study integrates the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2), and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to examine the effects of perceived usefulness, social influence, and environmental concern on EV purchase intention through attitude as a mediating variable. A quantitative survey was conducted with 250 respondents selected using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. The results indicate that social influence has a positive and significant effect on both purchase intention and attitude, while perceived usefulness has a positive and significant effect only on attitude. In contrast, perceived usefulness, environmental concern, and attitude do not significantly affect purchase intention, and environmental concern does not significantly affect attitude. Furthermore, attitude does not mediate the relationships between perceived usefulness, social influence, or environmental concern and purchase intention. The study concludes that social influence is the most influential factor in enhancing EV purchase intention among Generation Y in Jakarta.
