Abstract

***** This study aims to describe informal work orientation practices, the adaptation process of new employees, and the obstacles encountered during their implementation at PT X. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed involving four participants selected through purposive sampling: two new employees, one senior employee, and one human resources staf member. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that informal work orientation at PT X is conducted through verbal instructions, observation of senior employees’ work practices, direct assistance, daily communication, and learning by doing. The adaptation process occurs gradually through the stages of introduction, adjustment, and acceptance. It includes understanding tasks and workflows, building relationships with coworkers, and adjusting to the company’s work habits and culture. During its implementation, new employees still experience several obstacles, including inconsistent information, limited assistance, and the absence of written work guidelines. Therefore, informal orientation needs to be supported by more consistent guidance and simple work guidelines so that the adaptation process can be more structured and effective.
